Here at Reedswood E-ACT Primary Academy, we strive to teach our children how to learn and how to succeed in adult life.

We provide a tailor-made curriculum that focuses on the developing skills needed to help our pupils become well rounded, independent individuals.

To maintain our high expectations and academic standards, we teach literacy and mathematics every morning along with science, music, RE, geography, history, art and PE during the rest of the school day.

“The school curriculum has been well planned to make sure it is broad and balanced but is also engaging and interesting for the pupils.”

We use themes within our learning and each theme has a strong link to science, geography and history. We also link our reading, writing and creative arts to the theme.

Importance is also given to exploring and developing each child’s social, emotional, spiritual and cultural wellbeing.

“Topics such as ‘Turrets and Tiaras’ and ‘Back from the Future’ are supported by termly visits to places such as Tamworth Castle or through visitors to school, including a hands-on science Mars landing workshop.”

We believe that children are individuals and that this should be shared and celebrated, ensuring that all pupils achieve their full potential and become positive, successful citizens.

Celebration days are regularly planned to give time to explore different religions, environmental issues, personal safety and financial education.

“All pupils benefit from teaching from a music specialist with pupils in Year 3 all undertaking a Grade 1 music exam.  This typifies the high expectations that the school has for all pupils.”

Spiritual, moral, social and cultural development

Our curriculum also contributes to children’s behaviour and welfare, including their physical, mental and personal well-being, safety and development.

Helping children to develop in this way ensures that they are prepared to be reflective about and responsible for their actions as good citizens.
