Safeguarding

E-ACT and Reedswood have a duty of care to keep all pupils safe, are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils/students.

Our safeguarding team is Mrs K Blunt (Designated Safeguarding Lead) and Mrs M Lathbury-Cox (Deputy Safeguarding Lead).

Our wonderful team also consists of Miss N Akhtar who is our Safeguarding Officer and Mrs J Gutteridge who is our Pastoral Lead.

Any safeguarding concerns are reported and investigated.

We have an open door policy to all pupils, staff and parents so if you are ever concerned about the safety or well‐being of someone at our school, please talk to one of the school’s safeguarding team.

Safeguarding is defined as:

Protecting children from maltreatment
Preventing impairment of children’s health or development

Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care

We believe that:

All children/young people have the right to be/feel safe and be protected from harm;
Children/young people need support that matches their individual needs, including those who may have experienced abuse;
All children/young people have the right to speak freely and voice their values and beliefs;
All children/young people must be encouraged to respect each other’s values and
support each other;
All children/young people have the right to be supported
to meet their emotional, and social needs as well as their educational needs – a happy, healthy, sociable child/young person will achieve better educationally;
Schools can and do contribute to the prevention of abuse, victimisation, bullying, exploitation, extreme behaviours, discriminatory views and risk taking behaviours; and
All staff and visitors have an important role to play in safeguarding children and protecting them from abuse.

Mental Health

Everyone has mental health – some people call mental health ‘emotional health’ or ‘well-being’ and it’s just as important as good physical health. Everyone’s mental health is different. We all have times when we feel down or stressed or frightened. Most of the time those feelings pass, but sometimes they develop into a more serious problem. This can happen to anyone.

Child on Child abuse

Child on child abuse occurs when a young person (under 18 years old) is exploited, bullied and/or harmed by their peers, who are the same or similar age. Child on child abuse can include physical and sexual abuse, sexual harassment and violence, emotional harm, bullying (including cyberbullying) and teenage relationship abuse.
